Christmas in the Park brings together a diverse community each holiday season with its magical displays and lively entertainment. Established in 2011, Christmas in the Park brings citizens and visitors from the surrounding area including Louisiana to Jasper and to the spectacle and beauty of Sandy Creek Park.  With guidance from the city of Natchitoches, the inaugural year was a great success.

But how did this tradition start? It simply started with open discussions among community leaders with the desire, vision, and passion to create a holiday attraction utilizing what some would say is the ‘Jewel of the Forest’, Jasper’s Sandy Creek Park.

The vision to create a community event of this major scale, bringing our family, friends, and visitors together, gives meaning to the saying ‘Jasper, Texas, for a Weekend, or a Lifetime’, reminding us all of the quality of life we share in East Texas.

People come just to walk thru the displays and gaze in amazement, or to catch a glimpse of the holiday spirit Jasper so proudly showcases in Sandy Creek Park. Young and old, this annual event will be long remembered, establishing Christmas in the Park as a wonderful family tradition, sure to become a treasured heritage for future generations.

Since the first year, year- round planning and work have taken place.  Larger and more complex light displays have been added  through the support of our businesses and citizens, making Christmas in the Park a visual spectacle unlike any other in the area. You will want to bring your camera to capture the magic for yourself, and create lifelong memories as part of your family’s holiday tradition.

Christmas in the Park is not only a great, free event for families and friends to enjoy during the holiday season, but also benefits the community and local businesses. Christmas in the Park serves as an anchor event during the holiday season .This event is great for the local economy because it potentially brings additional business to local companies, restaurants, and other attractions.

Christmas in the Park is posed to continually make changes and additions to the event  for years to come, so please, come and experience the joy and magic that Sandy Creek Park gives you, and experience a new Christmas tradition with family and friends in the ‘Jewel of the Forest’, Jasper, Texas.
